Hi there! It’s nice to meet you!
I’m Kim, my titles include (but not limited too) mom, artist, foodie, and wanderlust. I invite you along my life’s journey as I create my world. My hope is that my stories will be inspiring, and move you to create your own wonderful world filled with fun and exciting things that make YOU happy. So, join me and let’s explore new territory (hopefully Paris, to be exact) and nurture our talents together!
So that was the super sweet and tidy “About Me” intro…
Here’s the real deal… I quit my job late summer of last year to pursue my life long goal of doing what I love and getting paid for it (this career path has yet to be determined, but it fall within the area of art and computers. lol)… After some deep reflection (aka falling flat on my face and not wanting to get up). I came to the realization that if I don’t get my stuff together soon I’d be broke. And because getting into shape after the kids has also been on my wish list (but still not achieved), I’d be broke and fat. Let’s face it that wouldn’t be good for anybody, especially the hubby.
Born in Trinidad, my family migrated (kind like what birds do, except not to a warmer climate) to NYC. After graduating from Pratt Institute with a bachelor’s degree in graphic design I went on to pursue my career. Soon after married my soul mate – yes that does exist – a few years later we had Jaylen then a very surprisingly short time after that, Julia was born.
Around the time my daughter was born, my son showed signs of regression in the skills that he learned. In other words, he wasn’t using the same words as he did a few months before, walked on his tippy toes and did a lot of humming. Long story short we learned that was Autistic.
It was already in our plans for me to stay at home and take care of the kids (hence the title “stay-at-home-mom”), but dealing with two toddlers, therapy sessions, a tight family budget, the husband working all the time, appointments and potty training was a bit too much to balance.
And so 8 years of not working for anyone else, I got a job offer and decided to give it a go.
I went in with high expectations for myself, my coworkers and my future with the company. After a year and a half of busting my butt, working extremely long hours (like 7:30am until 8:30pm) and lengthy daily commutes, I decided that this was NOT for me. I missed being there for my kids and was hurt that I couldn’t be home in time for dinner and was too tired to hear about their day at school.
I love Graphic Design, but I came to realize that maybe this wasn’t “IT” for me.
So here I am, creating my world, as I see fit, doing what I love and loving the rewards it brings. So what do I love? Well, art, (specifically painting and drawing), blogging, and travel (lots and lots of travel!!!) Most importantly being successful at these will ultimately lead to my family (kids and hubby) living a life of luxury. This is my end game! (thanks Taylor Swift)
My immediate plan is to go hard in my pursuit of theses talents and interests and keep an open mind and a big heart.
Welcome to my world! Hope you enjoy the ride and find inspiration along the way!
