So, you’ve decided to go on that MUCH NEEDED vacay to that beach destination of your dreams…
You do your research, book your vacation package to the most exotic resort destination and all you have left to do is pack your bags. Yay!!!!!!
But wait! What do you wear!!!!!! There’s nothing in your closet that would fit this momentous occasion. You have NOTHING TO WEAR!! (again) The ultimate girl dilemma….You then slump your lifeless body into a chair, realizing that your amazing beach vacation is doomed if your DON’T HAVE THE RIGHT OUTFIT for like every situation.
Never fear! I too, have experience this phenomenon called “Nothingtoweareveritus” (a condition suffered by women around the world caused by the lack of clothes appropriate for a particular occasion). I have found numerous ways of curing the paralyzing symptoms of this condition.
Beach destinations all have similar theme and setting, you have the beach, the sand, and the warm and beautiful sunshine, not to mention those cocktails that fit perfectly into your selfie, as you make your friends jealous posting on social media.
Besides the nudist beaches, there are some main staples that MUST pack when going on your beach vacation. Here are some ideas on how you could FINALLY, get over your “Nothingtoweareveritus.”:
Tip – If you don’t feel like its worth reading all these very important ideas on what to pack on your beach vacation, click here to get more ideas on the perfect outfits and purchase these looks to get closer to that beach.
SUNSCREEN – What’s the use of that perfect swimsuit or bikini, if all people can see is your inflammed tomato red skin? Lather it on and save yourself!
ONE-PIECE or BIKINI – Okay this one is a preference thing. If you are confident and comfortable in your own skin (pun intended), then by all means go for that bikini and show off all you assets (did it again)!. Others prefer the One-Piece, as it effortlessly hides all that junk and tucks it away, so you look flawless. Side note: I have two kids, so there’s no way in hell I’d be caught wearing a two piece, unless I worked out really hard in the gym and go on a diet….haha…not gonna happen any time soon!
COVER UP – You have your swimsuit on, but you can’t just walk around all day in practically your underwear, hence the “cover-up.” This allows you to roam freely throughout the resort areas (amongst families with small kids and the elderly), grab a bite at the bars and cafes or even stop into the shop for a souvenir. You can keep it on all day or take it off and reveal that awesome bod to the world when you get to the beach.
SANDALS – Think in neutral colors and something stylish and comfortable enough that you can wear on the beach and out and about.
BEACH TOTE – Some you might not think is important, but as I realized on my last vacay, you DON’T want to take your luxury pocket book on the beach!
SUNGLASSES – Another very important staple on your vacay anywhere!
READING MATERIALS – Besides the cocktails on the sand, you’ll need something to do whilst basking in the sun. You’ll be bringing magazines or books on the plane anyways, might as well throw them in your beach tote.
CASUAL TOPS, SHORTS AND/OR A DRESS – You just rolled out of bed at whatever o’clock and need something in your body to keep you from falling over. Keep it cool and comfortable here. Go for neutrals or bright bold colors, as long as it feels good on your skin. Accessories make the simplest outfits stand out. Add a necklace for a pop of color and a hat to keep that beach hair out of sight. Don’t forget your sandals! As the old saying goes, “No shirt, no shoes, no service!”
SEMI-FORMAL ATTIRE – This is where all those hours of burning in the sun pays off! You’ll have to check with the concierge or front desk about the restaurant’s dress code. Some are very casual, allowing shorts and sandals others prefer a more formal attire. There are many variations on the idea of semi-casual wear. My take on it can be a little black dress (LBD) or floor length dress. You can even wear a cocktail dress just make sure it’s not too dressy. Have fun with the colors here. Just because it’s a nighttime affair, doesn’t mean you have to stick with black! Again, accessorize, accessorize, accessorize! Add elegant earrings, or a statement necklace. And Yes!!! Wear those killer high heel sandals! And, there’s always a good reason to bring along that clutch. It’s a good place to keep your room key card, touch make-up, lip stick and phone. Glam it up or keep is simple, you CAN do it!
T-SHIRT AND SHORTS or JEANS – You may be out and about for hours, make sure you don’t have to worry about that those tight, uncomfortable pants, or that shirt that you have to fiddle with in order to make it look just right. You’ll be hopping on and off the Tour bus and/or Helicopter, so be in comfy and fuss-free clothing to make sure that all your focus is on the amazing sights and sounds around you.
HANDBAG – This is wear you need to keep your neccesities and have them at hand reach, so you’re not fondling around to take that once-in-a-lifetime pic.
CAMERA – Chances are your phone takes outstanding pics. Some prefer the more advanced cameras that also capture video. Keep in mind that you should have a camera that is lightweight and small enough to carry in your bag.
COMFORTABLE SHOES – I can’t stress this enough! Please wear your most comfortable shoes and no! that the old beat up, frumpy ones. You can find comfortable AND fashion forward shoes to keep your feet happy and you feeling fine all day!
HAT – Always an important accessory on those sunny, hot tours.
SUNGLASSES – Must have at all times!
SUNCREEN – Yes! Apply here too. Although you are in and out of the tours bus, you need to protect your skin at all times. Some outdoor tour stops may take longer than others, so being lathered up will keep you protected.
INSECT REPELLANT – Cuz you never know!
ATHLEISURE WEAR OR ATHLETIC WEAR – So your going on a zipline through the nearby rain forest or an ATV ride. There’s no reason why you can’t look stylish. There are so many styles and colors of ATHLEISURE WEAR to choose nowadays. I’m sure you already own at least one cool pair of leggings. Now’s the time to wear it!
SNEAKERS – I hate packing these I my suitcase, but you need them if you plan to go hiking, fishing, horseback riding, or any outdoor activity. Some businesses WILL NOT allow you to participate unless you are wearing sneakers.
BACKPACK – To cram all your goodies, bottles of water, protein bars, anti-bacterial wipes (sorry that’s the mom in me – I have these tucked everywhere), sweater, camera, ID etc.
SUNGLASSES – No need to explain this one.
HAT – You know what this is for…
